No way back

She crossed the door, closed it behind, and listened. She kept listening until she made sure their chasers had gone away. The phone got out of her pocket and her shaking fingers were calling the police. She realized as the phone was ringing that she couldn't tell them the real reason. They wouldn't believe it.

-Hello, I need help. These men are shooting, they have guns, they want to kill me. I'm in this place. Yes, near the hill. Come quickly.

She had to end the call. Outside, the sounds of the chasers interrupted her fearful calm. It was cackling, then grave, then sharp. It was the sound that was about to be heard by the rest of the world unless she stopped it.

She escaped from the destiny of her demised chasers cause she was faster and because he distracted them. If she could just survive for a few minutes and told them how to deal with the chasers, the job would be done. The infection would be stopped.

But the fragile door was destroyed in a second, and she let out a desperate scream. And the last thing she could see, and what hurt her more than the realization that with her gone, also was humanity, was that the chaser who found her was the one who had saved her half an hour ago.
